 Application

-ITZ is an effective UV-B sunscreen very soluble in cosmetic oils. Due to its high specific extinction and its excellent solubility is much more efficient than currently available UV filters.

For example, a sun protection O/W emulsion containing 2% of ITZ shows a SPF of 4 against a SPF of 2.5 obtained with an equal amount of Octyl Methoxycinnamate. Sunsafe-ITZ can be used in every cosmetic formulation containing a suitable lipidic phase, alone or in combination with one or more UV filters, such as:

Homosalate, Benzophenone-3, Phenylbenzimidazole Sulfonic Acid, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Octocrylene, Octyl Methoxycinnamate, Isoamyl p-Methoxycinnamate, Octyl Triazone, 4-Methylbenzylidene Camphor, Octyl Salicylate, Benzophenone-4.

It can also be used in combination with Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide.

Thanks to its high solubility, -ITZ can be dissolved in most cosmetic oils at very high concentration. To improve dissolution rate, we suggest to heat the oil phase up to 70-80°C and add -ITZ slowly under fast agitation.
